Chances of F1 denial is very high, if you apply from Mexico or Canada since it is going to be first F1. If at all you want to apply F1 outside USA, it is advisible to try at home consulate - still you will have to convince the IO that you do not intend to immigrate (which you may not be able to do it as your spouse is already here). Both options, in my opinion, big NO NO

It has become quite a hassle to obtain a California state driver's license or state identification card ("ID") when you are a non-immigrant such as in F, M, or J status (students, students in vocational schools, cultural exchange students). Recently Immigration Customs and Enforcement issued a fact sheet on applying for a driver's license or ID card for non immigrants in F, M or J status. The fact sheet is helpful as it provides basic information on how to apply for a driver's license or ID card. It is not state specific but it does list all of the websites for all of the Department of Motor Vehicle offices in the United States.
The steps in applying for a driver's license or ID card in California are listed on the California Department of Motor Vehicles website (http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/checklists/id.htm). You must do the following in this order:
Obtain a Social Security number
Complete a Driver License or Identification Card Application
Present an acceptable birth date/legal presence document
Pay the application fee

I believe they would process the application within 15 days. It doesnt necessarily have to be an approval or denial, they can even send a RFE.
Once you respond to the RFE, its not necessary that they have to process your case with in 15 days.

As far as i know you will be getting 1 receipt number for each application. so totally 6 numbers to keep track of for the years to come. By the when did u file? Was it for June filing? of July filing?

Everyone:
This was a GREAT week for all of us. Past three days have changed our discussion topics and we're now more concerned about doctor appointments and certificates. That is a good thing to talk about indeed. But lets not forget this battle goes on and we all need to be together in this journey. No one knows where one will be stuck!! So please continue working with IV agenda and contribute in anyways possible.

Since it is a not for profit i will fall under the quota.
She can transfer to other not for profits. Transferring to other for profit companies is challenging as it has to be under the quota.

Hello everybody,
My lawyer mailed me photocopy of I-485 form ,EAD application and AP form
which she filed last month. I saw that my lawyer has enter my old address (Michigen ) by mistake. My current address is in Illinois. The G328 form mentions the Illinois address as my present address. I had already send my AR-11 mentioning my Illinois address as my new address before my I-485 was filed.
My worry is will the finger print notice,EAD, will come to Michigen address or Illinois address
Pls guide what should I do to change the address on 485 to my new address..

As far as I know, USCIS considers CP as abandonment of I485 app. I am not sure you will be able to convert back to I485 again. Also, I think you will lose all your AP/EAD benefits. Check with a lawyer tho.
